MergeIT2 Pull Printing
Do you have a Pull Printing solution in your organization?
The MergeIT Pull Printing Interface will send merged documents, along with the details of the Orchard user that requested the document, to printers controlled by Print Management Software such as Equitrac and Papercut.
Print Management Software is used, amongst other things, to implement Pull Printing (a.k.a. “Follow Me”). Pull Printing requires users to log in to a printer prior to selecting and printing documents that are assigned to their username. Using Pull Printing, documents may be sent to a “pool” of printers, users can log in to any of the printers in the pool to retrieve their documents. Thus Pull Printing introduces flexibility, reduction of waste, ease of management and confidentiality into document printing.
Picksoft are able to help with all aspects of pull printing, including integration with door access control systems.

Pull Printing FAQ
What Print Management software is supported by the MergeIT Pull Printing Interface?
MergeIT is working in Live installations running Papercut, Equitrac, Uniflow, SafeQ, Pcounter, Safecom and Docupro. If your print management software isn't on the list, email support@picksoft.co.uk with the details and we will do the research to see if it can be supported.
With MergeIT Pull Printing configured, can we still use conventional printing?
Yes. MergeIT will only apply the Pull Printing functionality to printers that are designated as Pull Printers.
Do we need to have LDAP configured for Orchard logons?
No. MergeIT has a variety of methods available to convert the Orchard username of the print owner to a Windows network username. This includes handling for special case Orchard users such as Batch and Orchard, and users who use more than one Orchard logon.
How many Pull Printers need to be configured?
That depends on how duplex, colour and headed paper are being handled. Generally, customers will have between one and four pull printers configured on the MergeIT system.
How much customer effort is required to implement MergeIT Pull Printing?
Customers will need to configure the printers for MergeIT and provide configuration details to Picksoft. There are also two web services that need to be published on the Orchard servers, Picksoft provide instructions for this. When the configuration has been tested, customers will need to configure Orchard to use the Pull Printers.
How long does the implementation take?
You go at your own pace. Most implementations are staggered over about a week as the various components are configured, though there are examples of implementations being completed in an afternoon.
How easy is it to change the configuration? Will documentation be provided?
MergeIT Pull Printing is configured using a customer editable configuration text file. Each customer will receive documentation, bespoke to their configuration, which will include operational instructions such as how to add extra printers and what to do when Orchard server hardware is upgraded.
